IndoorIndoor floors

The classic epoxy job. Installers grind the slab, fix cracks, then lay down a base coat, color or flake, and a clear topcoat.

  • Garage floors: flake and solid color systems that handle hot tires and salt
  • Basements: metallic, marble-look and solid finishes, with a moisture check first
  • Commercial: warehouses, shops, kitchens, showrooms and offices

OutdoorOutdoor coatings

More people are coating concrete outside. These jobs use UV-stable products and textured finishes that hold up to sun and stay grippy when wet.

Common questions

Is epoxy a good choice for a garage floor?
For most attached and detached garages, yes. A properly prepped epoxy or flake system stands up to tire traffic, oil drips and road salt better than bare concrete, and it sweeps clean. The prep matters more than the product: the concrete has to be ground or etched so the coating can bond.
Can you put epoxy on a basement floor?
Usually, but moisture is the thing to check first. Water vapor coming up through a slab can make a coating peel. A good installer will test the slab and may recommend a moisture-blocking primer before the color coat.
Does epoxy work outside on a patio or pool deck?
Standard epoxy can yellow and chalk in direct sun, so outdoor jobs usually use UV-stable systems such as polyaspartic or polyurea topcoats, often with a flake or textured finish so the surface isn't slippery when wet. Ask each contractor which product they plan to use outdoors.
How long before I can use the floor?
It depends on the system. Many polyaspartic floors allow foot traffic the next day, while traditional epoxy often needs a few days before you park on it. Your installer will give you the cure times for the product they use.
How much does an epoxy floor cost?
Angi puts the 2026 national average at $2,526, with most homeowners paying between $1,650 and $3,494 (source). Size, resin type and the condition of your concrete move the price the most. See our cost guide.
